Market research positioning joint degree programmes

The strategic collaboration between VU Amsterdam and the UT is in full swing, including in the field of study programmes. To gain insight into how we can best profile our joint study programmes when recruiting students, a market survey was carried out early November.  his was done among prospective students, students and a number of VU Amsterdam and  UT staff involved in the collaboration.

Our joint programme is unique. The collaboration enables students to study at a technical university in Amsterdam. With well-chosen positioning, we stand out and it is clear to prospective students at a glance that they can study at VU Amsterdam on a UT programme. And who knows, maybe in the future the other way round: a VU Amsterdam programme at the UT. We will use the insights from the research for the recruitment campaigns for both locations.

Online community staff

Students and study participants were sent a questionnaire online. The qualitative research among employees of VU Amsterdam and UT consisted of an online community in which participants could express their opinions interactively and, if desired, anonymously. On the basis of a number of questions and communication statements, participants were invited to help think about the positioning for study-goers.

Results known in mid-December

The survey was conducted by market research agency Markteffect. The report on all research results is expected in mid-December. That is in time to include the results in the campaigns for the second half of the recruitment period, which runs until 1 May 2023.
